Tommy Lavi

Software developer, also an visual arts, comic and animation enthusiast

Hello here!

Hi! I’m a Finnish/Russian student still studying software development and so far have crafted some basic, but well functioning and slick-looking web and mobile applications with build-in CRUD databases using object oriented programming with needed add-ons.

Though I also do have a strong, autodidact passion for all things visual arts, from comics to animated films. I have already been frequenting and discovering, virtually and physically, several animation festival thorough Europe and have particularly strong fascination with the history of animated film, discovering its rather lesser known corners of the art form from the past, from Zagreb to Kiev, from Paris to Budapest, and elsewhere. I also have practiced traditional drawing and even painting almost on a daily basis for several years. I’m already thinking of having a career path in animation, either as a storyteller or a distributor lobbying for the visibility of the arts, but software development seems to offer a less risky, agile enough career venture and also a route-b whenever there will be any difficulties in the job market.

Due to my audio-visual interests, I would like to try my hands on video game development and see what is like to work there. I could try different pieces of technology from Unity to C#, and be an adaptable, supportive part of a game-making team in a industry prone to all kinds technical challenges and errors, while having an artistic eye and skills as a great bonus. There’s also a desire to bring something rather fresh and new, or funny and quirky, at least aesthetically, to the rather homogenized world of video games.

I may not be a master of everything, but I have, nonetheless, a desire to continuously try and discover several new things both from technological and artistic frontiers, as I’m yet to form a stable career.
